I’ve seen hundreds of articles/videos that target improvement in one’s pickleball game. However, they are almost always instructions focused on physical shot-making or strategy, and in my experience the self-improvement technique most critically overlooked is harnessing one’s mental game. The best example of the importance of mental performance is the extreme peaks and valleys many have within a single day of playing – at the peak one is in a pure low state, and at the trough experiencing maximum distraction. If one can control their mindset to spend a greater proportion of time in that peak state, they will see a greater performance gain than any physical or strategic change they make in their game. In his book, Lee does a fantastic job helping the reader train their mind for peak performance on the court. He provide techniques for optimal mindset, and helps them create a discipline so that the reader can transport their mental state to a low state before every game, or for when they need it most. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to raise their pickleball game with the most bang for their buck – optimizing mindset
